Iconic 1980s Cold War Movies
During the 1980s movies reflecting the sentiment of the American society was played out in movie plots. Dialogue between stereotypical characters embraced the ideologically driven American hero and the tyrannical Soviet Russian. The Cold War era made many Americans live in fear due to the threat of nuclear war. This fear of war was instigated by the arms race by the Soviet and American governments. In reality both Russians and Americans had to live in fear of Mutual Assured Destruction, or MAD, as the Cold War nightmare could have turned into a reality at any time.
